چکیده
Recent high-resolution quantitative mapping experiments aimed at elucidating the genetics of natural variation for wing shape in fruit-flies suggest that very many genes can subtly influence the trait.

Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor and Transforming Growth Factor-b Signaling Contributes to Variation for Wing Shape in Drosophila melanogaster
Wing development in Drosophila is a common model system for the dissection of genetic networks and their roles during development. In particular, the RTK and TGF-b regulatory networks appear to be involved with numerous aspects of wing development, including patterning, cell determination, growth, proliferation, and survival in the developing imaginal wing disc. However, little is known as to h...
متن کاملNaturally segregating quantitative trait loci affecting wing shape of Drosophila melanogaster.
Variation in vein position and wing shape of Drosophila melanogaster depends on many genes. In the following, we report the results of a QTL analysis of wing shape in D. melanogaster. We identified QTL responsible for natural variation for wing shape and analyzed their interactions with developmental genetic signaling pathways important for vein positioning. The QTL analysis indicated that the ...

متن کاملQuantitative genetics of shape in cricket wings: developmental integration in a functional structure.
The role of developmental and genetic integration for evolution is contentious. One hypothesis states that integration acts as a constraint on evolution, whereas an alternative is that developmental and genetic systems evolve to match the functional modularity of organisms. This study examined a morphological structure, the cricket wing, where developmental and functional modules are discordant...
متن کاملAn analysis of polygenes affecting wing shape on chromosome 2 in Drosophila melanogaster.
Genetic effects on an index of wing shape on chromosome 2 of Drosophila melanogaster were mapped using isogenic recombinants with transposable element markers. At least 10 genes with small additive effects are dispersed evenly along the chromosome. Many interactions exist, with only small net effects in homozygous recombinants and little effect on phenotypic variance. Heterozygous chromosome se...
